Extreme

I am so extreme, I've never chose this intensity.
This is how I was re-made
Murmur if you must to the potter and not the clay.
You can't direct the steps of another,
A beam in the eye is so hard to cover
Like a child who hides in the womb of his mother

Chorus:

If you can see the way I think and how I shout and how I leap
If you can see how deeply I groan, how I pray and how I weep,
You would think me so extreme,
Yes you would,
You would say I'm,
I am so extreme.

Well I am so extreme, I'll never be what you expect from me
This is how I was re-made
I just follow in the direction my heart says take
You can't direct the steps of another
A beam in the eye is so hard to cover
Like a child who hides in the womb of this mother.

Chorus.

Bridge:

Are you my brother or must I be
So full of tack and dignity?
Are you my sister or must I be
As you see me to be
Received?

Chorus.Chorus

My Love is in Tune

All alone, so far along
I was running and
Turned my back on heaven
But through the years
And through all the tears
I still secretly longed
To see Your face

Prechorus:

Cause there are nights I will remember
And all our days were always wrapped in splendor

Chorus:

And so I’m waiting, and I’m watching
And I’m wondering if we’ll ever
Be the same again though I’ve gone away
So I sing this serenade

But the words I lost and the chords I tossed
So long I don’t remember
And if I’ve lost my tone and my way back home
If I’m singing sharp to You
At least I’ve kept my love in tune

Can’t You see?
Does anybody know you?
Like I want to know you?
At least I’ve kept my love in tune

Verse:

On roads I’ve crossed
To recount the loss
I am making my peace with my maker
And I’m wondering why
I just can’t deny
You are the author
Of my life

Prechorus.
Chorus.

Cinema Jive

Chorus:

Don't give me no, don't give me no cinema jive
What some promoter think will pass for real life
Seems so exciting but can cut like a knife
So darling, don't give me no, no cinema jive.

Verse:

You've seen the pictures upon the screen
They're selling you a world that you cannot believe in
And you've heard the the stories, you know them well
Of self-make shiney people who are tougher than nails
So beautiful and some are so supreme
But nothing like the Savior I am always seeking
Oh I'm seeking. . .

Chorus.

Where is the message? Where has it gone,
When the chorales in the show halls play a different kind of song?
But unlike the stories played on TV
There's something here for nothing and it's God's redeeming
So bountiful and always so supreme
He sent his love and Savior we're always seeking. . .
Oh we're seeking

Chorus.

So bountiful and always so supreme,
He sent his love and Savior we are always seeking
I'm seeking

Chorus.

Stan: The song Cinema Jive came about one day after I had gone out to see a movie. I was with a few of the ALCC crowd (I think James was there, maybe Noah) and we had gone out to see Con Air. Halfway through the flick I walked out. It was all pretty silly. Here was a movie that pretty much glorified violence and the tough-guy hero. It was all phony and contrived so I thought, "You know, there's a whole industry churning out this kind of stuff." It was all a lie and everyone knew it, kind of like the emperor having no clothes, but everyone seemed to be going along with the fairy tale.

Jesus talked about hypocrisy, about the Pharisees being "whitewashed tombs" (Mt. 23:27)--all show, not reality. I think Cinema Jive sums it up by calling the message being put out by the movies for what it really is--a bunch of "jive". These movies glorify a self-absorbed tough-guy's achievements rather than his creator.
